As you know I am super in love with how cheap things are here in KSA. Lately I have had to do a lot of shopping hauls since I’m missing a lot of things as I just moved here. Yesterday I was able to take a company bus to town, and went to both a traditional Arab souk plus a Hyper Panda supermarket. I managed to get 2 niqabs, or traditional face coverings, so I have my own and can return my coworkers that I have been borrowing. I also bought a lot of other things, which I will detail for you below.
2 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breast
3.2 pounds of steak cut into cubes
2 cups of yogurt
1 pack of galaxy bars (I developed an addiction for these in Kuwait)
1 tube of optic white toothpaste from Crest
1 bag of onions
1 bag of tomatoes
1 bag of spices
1 container of hand soap
1 bed in a bag
The neat thing is I got all of this for about $60 USD. The bedding alone is worth that. I wanted a container of strawberries, and so you can imagine how shocked I was when I saw that they cost $10 USD for a container! Who knows, maybe I will go back for them after I get paid.
Salaam,
KC
